Wie sollte eine liberale Gesellschaft mit Krankheiten umgehen, wenn sie gerecht sein will?
In Germany, the range of publicly financed health care services is determined by legislation. Its central concepts of health and disease are defined by decisions of the courts which rely on expert opinion. Because experts disagree on the right way to define the concepts of health and disease, the whole procedure has came under scrutiny. Thus, we examine three liberal political theories and their answer to the question of how just societies should deal with deseases. It is shown that the theories of Rawls/Daniels and Dworkin cannot solve the tension between justice and liberty, whereas Sens theory although vague can be read in a more satisfactory way.Zum vollständigen Artikel | Artikel bestellen
