Der »therapeutische Imperativ« als ethisches und sozialethisches Problem. Zur Gefährdung der Würde des Menschen durch die Totalisierung einer »Ethik des Heilens« am Beispiel der Debatte um »therapeutisches Klonen« und verbrauchende Embryonenforschung
In the German debate about therapeutic cloning and destructive research on embryos the »ethics of healing« has become the key concept employed by the proponents of such research. At the core of this ethics lies a »therapeutic imperative«. The article questions its innate totalitarian tendency. This tendency exists primarily when categorically accepted counterweights such as the inalienable human dignity and the universal prohibition to kill, which provide the foundation of a humane and liberal society, are lifted. The article sets out an argument in their favour against the backdrop of the present dispute about the status of the embryo. In addition, the socio-psychological plausibility of the »ethics of healing« is briefly discussed
