Compliance oder die Verantwortung des Patienten im Prozess der medizinischen Dienstleistung
The medical term compliance reflects a reductive understanding of the physician patient relationship, with the physician as expert and the patient as dependent layperson. This does not do justice to the new perception of the roles of physicians and patients and especially the patients responsibility in the process of delivering medical services. In a reciprocal relationship noncompliance may not necessarily be interpreted as patient misconduct; frequently,it indicates insufficient patient involvement. Furthermore, it may even be the expression of a considered decision by the patient, e. g. when treatment is refused based on informed doubts about its effectiveness.
