Zum Verhältnis zwischen Bioethik und Religion in postmoderner Gesellschaft
This paper first attempts to explicate postmodernity as both a crisis of the moral subject and a radical pluralization of society. It then gives a brief history of bioethics from modern to postmodern thinking. In postmodern times religions can become more relevant, since many bioethical decisions must be taken in reference to different value systems and even specific faith experiences. A possible way for religions to engage in the discussion about bioethics is shown by Warren Reich who sees the point of departure in wonder through which we open to transcendent realities and in the confrontation with human vulnerability. This can lead to an ethics of care.
