Wie viel Freiheit braucht Verantwortung? Ethische Implikationen neurowissenschaftlicher Studien
Experimental studies suggest that our supposedly free actions are just as much a product of neuronal determinisms as our behavioral reactions which we commonly regard as not free. Leading neuroscientists conclude that freedom and moral responsibility are impossible. This contribution aims to show that the relevant neuroscience studies identify free will and deliberate decisions. Such a strong concept of the free will, however, is not presupposed in everyday moral reasoning. Thus the paper develops a concept of the free will which is based on classical models, takes account of neuroscience and is sufficiently strong to support our attribution of moral responsibility.
