Lebendspende-Nierentransplantation. Ein theologisch-ethischer Zwischenhalt
The debate in moral theology about the in-principle legitimacy of living kidney donations may be regarded as closed. Such donations are viewed as charitable acts of Christian caritas and compassion. Can any anonymous living donation be justified thus? The article discusses the moral criteria for evaluating such donations. It emphasizes the protection of the donors bodily and personal integrity, including his or her capacity to decide freely, as core criterion for a legitimate practice of living donations. Against this background the author investigates the possibilities and limits of extending such a practice.
