Befähigungsgerechtigkeit als theologischsozialethisches Leitkriterium für die Priorisierung knapper Ressourcen im Gesundheitswesen
Abstract/Summary In view of the systemic shortage of financial resources, prioritization in the health care system is inevitable. Because health is widely regarded as a conditional good, the structures of the health care system must meet minimum standards of justice, consistency and transparency. Therefore, prioritization has to comply with criteria that are based on ethical reflection. Social ethics rooted in fundamental theology can contribute to this process by highlighting the significance of capabilities for the notion of justice and fairness. This approach is, from a theological and social ethical point of view, suitable for analyzing models of prioritization and for identifying blind spots in health policy as well as in health concepts. Thus, current debates about the meaning of health and disease, personal responsibility for health and illness, the relevance of social factors for health and health care and the problems of prioritization on the macro- and micro-level can be moved to greater depths.
