Forschung an menschlichen Embryonen Zur Unhintergehbarkeit weltanschaulicher Voraussetzungen in der bioethischen Debatte
Moral judgments rely on presuppositions, often referred to as »weltanschauung«, which, among others, comprise a range of views of what it means to be human. These presupposed interpretations of reality affect all moral judgments and consequently also give arguments about contemporary bioethical questions, e.g. human embryo research, a certain orientation. However, more often than not an underlying interpretation of reality remains implicit and unexplained. In comparing German and British laws concerning human embryo research, the author illustrates how moral judgments rely on ideological presuppositions and shows that it is necessary, to clarify and explain implicit moral presuppositions.
