Ein »Markt für Organe«? Zur Frage einer Kommerzialisierung menschlicher Organe zwecks Reduzierung des Organspendemangels aus ethischer Sicht
In view of the manifest shortfall in organ donation, which results in the avoidable death of patients on waiting lists and at the same time confronts transplantation medicine with an ongoing conflict with the norm of justice, the idea of a »market for organs« or at least of financial incentives is for some time been discussed internationally. The following contribution sets forth an analysis that starts out with the question of the relationship of the human being to his body. It then asks whether parts of the human body may be viewed as »merchandisable«. Against this background the contribution examines the question of the ethical validity of a »market for organs« and of financial incentives.
