Wer über mich verfügt, entscheide ich und ein Anderer.Die Patientenverfügung und das kommunizierte moralische Urteil
In an interdisciplinary research project in Regensburg the faculties of medicine, education and catholic theology were focusing on »Challenges of law based instruments in case of incapability of decision making: precautionary mandate and advance directive«. In a survey at the out-patient departments of the University Hospital Regensburg 2158 patients were asked. Included were aspects of religion (denomination, self-estimation of ones religious affiliation, belief in life after death) and precautionary talks. Denominational differences (Protestant/Catholic) in the frequency of writing advance directives and precautionary mandate as well as the frequency of precautionary talks turned out to be obvious even if the patients considered themselves as »non-believers«. As a result, this highly individual and private scope of decision is being influenced by denomination and a frame of communicative judging.
