Was braucht Global Health Ethics: Globalisierung von Bioethik oder neue Ansätze?
Medical students show an increasing interest in Global Health that wants to bridge gaps between various areas and agents with the goal of decreasing health inequities. This interest is not yet adequately taken up in medical ethics. In ethics, WHO is more concerned with states as agents than with civil society and few US universities deal with global distribution of health (care). German medical ethicss interest concerned cross-cultural difference in the German clinical and international legislative areas as well as global research ethics, i.e. a geographical extension of classical bioethical issues. Global Health Ethics demands also reflecting the moral challenges from medical stays abroad, health work related to refugees and poverty, emergency and development assistance and the impact of globalized economy and politics on health. Medical ethics should transgress its accustomed scope of themes and approaches in addition to merely extending its spatial outreach.
