Home Run - Dankbare Reflexionen auf Begegnungen mit behinderten Menschen
Among the many possible approaches to the topic of disability, there is also the perspective of those who encounter disabled persons in their families, among their friends, at work or as volunteers. This article seeks to offer a philosophical-theological reflection on this encounter, understood as an enrichment for the person who gets to deal with the disabled. It includes the following aspects: 1) Being in need of help as an act of service. 2) Sense of humor originating from the confrontation with ones own limits. 3) Highly developed capacities because other capacities are impaired. 4) Exemplary self-acceptance. 5) The legitimate praise voiced by the suffering one, legitimizing the praise of all the others. 6) Suffering as service.
