Menschen mit Demenz im Krankenhaus - Eine Frage der Ethik
In modern societies, the number of people suffering from dementia is constantly growing. As a consequence, hospitals are confronted with increasing numbers of demented patients. Hospitals, however, are only poorly prepared for this challenge. The present article argues that a sustainable solution to this problem can only be found if it is seen in the larger context of discourse on dementia: Dementia is a task society as a whole has to cope with on the grounds of ethical arguments. Only then it seems possible that the practical solutions found for the specific needs of hospitals confronted with dementia will be durable and successful.
