Von Unfällen und Katastrophen: Zur Geschichte der Triage in der Notfallmedizin
In medicine, triage stands for the screening and sorting of patients with regard to the urgency of their treatment when resources are scarce. Besides military medicine, triage is particularly relevant in emergency and disaster medicine. After the Second World War, the triage concept was partially introduced into civil medicine, but was never uncontroversial. The historical analysis confirms definitional fuzziness and an ambiguous use of the term triage. The practical application of triage is also inconsistent.
